Dr. R.A. Mashelkar, a National Research Professor and Padma Vibhushan, is the Chairman of India’s National Innovation Foundation and President of the Global Research Alliance, an international network of publicly funded R&D institutes with over 60,000 scientists. He is on the Board of Directors of Reliance Industries, Hindustan Unilever, Tata Motors and Piramal Life Sciences. He is amongst the three Indian engineers in the twentieth century to have been elected as Fellow of Royal Society (FRS), London. Dr Mashelkar has been closely associated with the intellectual property rights movement having spearheaded the successful challenge to the US patent on the use of turmeric for wound healing and Basmati rice and was instrumental in setting up India’s first Traditional Knowledge Digital Library.

Dr Paul is an MBBS & MD from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. He combines corporate sector expertise from Bausch and Lomb USA with development sector experience at the L.V. Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. He was responsible for setting up the Bausch & Lomb School of Optometry in Hyderabad in collaboration with the L.V. Prasad Eye Institute and heading Bausch & Lomb’s CSR initiative of setting up Cataract Care Centres in underserved parts of India. Dr Paul was formerly the Country Director for the America India Foundation.

Before this, he served with the World Bank and was a partner at Amarchand Mangaldas, where he led the Policy and Regulatory Affairs Practice group. Suhaan has a Bachelors degree in Law from the National Law School of India, and a Masters degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
